It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
December 1, 2024
The 1958 Mercury Monterey sped along the barren 401 on Christmas Eve. They had enjoyed a fine evening of card playing and general revelry at Tom’s sister house. The stars were plentiful on a frigid night. Ev looked out over Lake Ontario.
“There is a bright light up in the sky that is not a star or planet.
“A Christmas star,” inquired Tom.
“No, it seems to be moving across the sky high up. It’s not an airplane,” she said before Tom could make his guess.
Tom took a quick look. “You’re right," he stated. “It must be that Russian spaceship. I read about it this morning in the newspaper.” Tom was always spotting information like this to share with Ev.
Ev gave him a look. ”You believe in that? The next thing you know they will put a man on the moon,” she said.
“Maybe UFO’s are real.” They both laughed at the thought.
‘Whatever it is, Merry Christmas,” Ev said out the window.
