Ode to an Idea
O, glorious day, when an idea becomes reality,
When the efforts of a few become a point in history,
When a year's worth of effort produces so many such points,
That the sheer momentum pushes forward the whole.
O, gratifying day, when, alone you breach the written word
And supported by your friends you surge forward
And create, for all, by your thoughts and creative spirit,
A story, a poem, a song, a sigh.
Oh, sad day, when despite the best of efforts,
You realize the temporarily obscured truth,
That time treads on, sometimes by itself, without heed
And life takes over the reins with demands that must be met.
Adieu and with fondness,
Adrian
