Writing Prompts

Here are some prompts. They are a springboard for ideas to develop. Copy and paste the list. When I use a prompt I delete it from the list. You won't use everything on the list. Pick and choose what appeals to you. Alter the prompt to suit your needs.

If you have ideas for further prompts please post them or, if you want, send them to me as I compile lists.

Remember to use Who, What, When, Where, Why and How to help develop your ideas.

Write about:

  • A lie.

  • A kiss.

  • A promise.

  • A heartbreak.

  • A misfortune.

  • A come back.

  • A lucky situation.

You’ve lived an exciting life.

Someone else is dying to hear about.

How do you know when to hold on and when to let go?

What would you ask if the answer was yes?

If not now when?
