Yaayyy! It’s almost Colonoscopy Day! Just one more sort-of sleep until that magical time of the 3 to 5-year cycle that brings peace and joy to the mostly good boys and girls. That time of year when we all give thanks for the birth of the tiny Colonoscopy Camera (and subsequent technologies.)
What a day it has been! The Dulcolax tablets have all been consumed. The Colon Bush has been trimmed and decorated and Colonoscopy Eve dinner is ready. A hearty chicken broth followed by scrumptious orange Jello and all the ginger-ale and apple juice you can drink! Then it will be off to bed with our packets of Pico-Salax tucked under the pillow and those oh-so-familiar butterflies in our soon-to-be pristine and purged digestive systems.
Of course, there won’t be much sleeping this night though, boys and girls, because tomorrow has almost arrived! But this night is a long one as every hour or so we wake up, peek out the window with anticipation and then creep quietly to our bathrooms.
Then, at last… it’s here! Colonoscopy Day! It looks like no snow for Colonoscopy Day this year, but it’s wonderful just the same! Everyone bundles up and heads for the Temple of Health where Good King Anesthetist awaits. Then everyone falls asleep for an hour or so and we all wake up together in the Recovery Nave.
Then, oh then boys and girls, the Colonoscopy Day Feast at the nearest restaurant we can find! The merry ride home, full of strange sounds and gurgles, brings the tired yet happy boys and girls to their beds where they fall into a deep and restful sleep.
Don't you wish Colonoscopy Day came every year!
Well done! Happy Festivus!
