As crypts go, it was a good one. It had the requisite muskiness, sunlight that rode in through an iron grate and two large rats.
Edward Rosseau awoke, climbed out of his coffin, squeezed through the grate and headed downtown. He passed children in the park, their noses glued to their cellphones. He passed the grocery store and noted the price of grapes. Ten bucks each. Then he spotted a newspaper. After perusing a few headlines, he headed back to the crypt.
And he never got up again. Until AI invented the re-animation device in 2845. But that’s another story.
The reanimation device is a nice touch!
