The Silhouette :A Story Stack: The Separation Method

This is a compilation of two separate Story Stacks based on the picture.

Possibilities

Lost in thought, an idea formed

The Tor

On the mountainside he spotted a place to establish a basecamp. The crag would have to work until morning light made the journey much safer.

The Refraction

The line of lightning clearly etched a woman’s face across the darkened sky. The image was seared into my retina.

“Wow," I murmured.

Hello,” said a voice.

I looked down to see the same outline illuminated by backlighting. “Twice,” I thought. “I wonder why?”

“Going my way?” she asked temptingly.

The Silhouette

In the darkened room her silhouette in the mirror had caught her off guard. She‘d spent a lifetime preparing for this moment only to have a bullet remove the path to her happiness. She was alone in a world she never wanted to be a part of unless he was there with her. The lies, accusations and wilful ignorance of the facts would never end. His opponents had forgotten what truth means in their lust for power. She sighed deeply before fitting the veil over her face, determined that she would do him proud. She smiled and opened the door.

The Pose

A small thought began to grow as she held her pose for the third month. “What if…” but she could not consciously go further with this idea. It was too wild, too speculative. It made her shudder to even have the idea.  But it was there and it began to push itself forward in small baby steps.

“No,” she thought as she fought to maintain her pose. “Out of the question. It cannot happen.”

It was a freedom that she had never considered before. But was it a betrayal?

She tossed this idea around carefully.

As she eyeballed the pictures that surrounded her the glimmer became more solid. It pushed at the edges of her reality. It forced her mind to focus. The more she focused the more it became a possibility.

With every ounce of her energy, she forced herself out of the picture frame into a new existence.
