Regrets

That thing I said the other day,

It wasn’t an attack.

And I would give most anything,

If I could take it back.

That choice I made late last year,

Well, that was really bad,

I would have chosen otherwise,

If I’d known it’d make you sad.

That prank I played with Georgio?

Well, we were kind of drunk.

Looking back, as I am right now,

I see it kind of stunk.

So when I lay awake at night,

With thoughts up in my head,

They settle mostly on things done wrong

Not the good things, while in bed.

I suppose you might just be the same,

In fact, I’d surely bet,

You think about the things you did,

That you came to regret.

  1. True of most of us…a whole lifetime of regrets (well good things too!) Nice poem.
