A Glimpse
I caught a glimpse of what might have been
If he had taken a different road,
If he had not gone down the dealers path
If he could have just said no.
His life could have been different
with food and a place to live.
His body wouldn't be so old now...
thin, frail and hollowed out.
He might have had a family,
a job and respect and friends.
Today he has a second chance
for a policeman took him in.
He clothed him and fed him and
gave him a reason to live.
He keeps the boats in order,
keeps them polished and painted up.
I saw a tiny sparkle
in his eye when his work was done,
He grabbed his very own fishing rod
to relax in the late day sun.
I love this. But it's kind of freaky because I've written a poem along this exact theme.
ReplyDeleteStrange we would think alike. We rode for a day with the policeman who actually saved this guy. This world has unbelievable good in it!
DeleteNice one, Nancy.
ReplyDeleteHe was given hope! Nice!
