POETRY TWO

The Chair

The stage was set and permission was granted
The farmer had said "okay",
The hunter was ready and very excited-
It was wild turkey opening day.

He set up at dawn with his camouflage on,
He had already scouted a spot
He drove to the field and pulled out his chair...
A red camp chair that he had just bought.

He waited two hours and nothing appeared
He didn't see turkeys around.
So strange there was nothing at all in the field
For he hadn't made even a sound.

He got in his car which was red like his chair,
He had parked it beside where he sat,
He headed back down the road he had come
And took off his camouflage hat.

Two minutes later, the turkey did strut
Down the road behind the red car,
"Safe for another day", the turkey thought
"Thank goodness, I see red from afar!"
