UNSTOPPABLE
He dropped the ball and picked up his stick
Heading out for a sunset walk.
He ran ahead up the gravelled hill
While the others played and talked.
He chased the ball with his hockey stick
even when it went astray.
Into the woods and out again
back onto the gravelled way.
His mind was focused on the ball
from the house to the back of the farm,
Into the poison ivy patch
caused the boy a bit of alarm.
He turned right around and back to the house
And it never got away,
A half mile back and a half mile home
"Grandma, did you see my breakaway?"
This creates such a lovely image in my mind. Very well done.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing to me that through as simple a thing as a RWC challenge, you can put yourself at risk and emerge, unscathed. Good one, Nancy.
ReplyDeleteI like the rhythm of your lines. Their consistency was delightful!
