Sunset
Most often, day simply turns to night,
as the sun quickly disappears behind the woods.
But every once in a while it goes down with fanfare—
painting the sky with a wash of brilliant colour.
If it were to be a regular event—
the impact would be lost.
It would be taken for granted.
So when it happens, it’s awe inspiring.
That had to be Sunday May 4! Spectacular sunset. It was a “take your breath away” moment! You are correct in that it wouldn’t be so awe inspiring if it was every sunset.
