Six Angry Neighbours

 

Format

Six Angry Neighbours is a short film following neighbours and friends Brian and Eloise as they inadvertently reveal secrets kept by their neighbours and themselves.

 

Logline

Brian and Eloise are neighbours and good friends. However, their neighbours are harbouring secrets that Brian and Eloise get caught up in. Danny, flirting with a mid-life crisis, has a secret he’s hiding from his spendthrift wife Christina with the help of Brian. Young and beautiful Briella is suspicious of her brash husband Tyler’s relationship with Eloise, leading her into her own secret. An argument that begins with a mundane neighbourly matter soon leads into everyone’s secrets being revealed – including Brian’s and Eloise’s.

 

Characters

Brian Fredericton – a non-descript middle-aged man who is close friends with Eloise.  He never married and now feels it is too late for him to be dating.  Lives at 7 Altoona Court.

Eloise Boat – a plain young woman who is close friends with Brian.  She has been single since she moved to the neighbourhood and is generally ignored by everyone except Brian.  Lives at 5 Altoona Court.

Tyler Biderman – a brash young redneck married to Briella.  He spends most of his time tinkering with machinery in his backyard, which he is able to do thanks to his parents buying him his house.  Lives at 3 Altoona Court.

Briella Biderman – a beautiful young woman married to Tyler. She is insecure in her relationship and resents Tyler for not having to work.  Lives at 3 Altoona Court.

Danny French – a working-class middle-aged man married to Christina.  He has worked hard to provide for his family and resents Christina’s spendthrift ways while feeling he deserves more for himself.  Lives at 1 Altoona Court.

Christina French – a middle-aged woman trying to hold onto her youth, married to Danny.  She is fond of fancy clothes, expensive trips, and line dancing and feels held back by Danny.  Lives at 1 Altoona Court.

 

Scene 1

Brian and Eloise talk amicably as they walk down the street.  Eloise stops to help Tyler with his sump pump while Brian continues on to Danny’s.

 

Scene 2

The sump pump fixed, Tyler returns clothes Eloise had left behind when her washing machine was broken.  Eloise is seen leaving by Briella, whose suspicions are heightened.

Scene 3 

Danny and Brian watch football and discuss Danny’s boat until Christina arrives home.  Christina bemoans not being able to buy new clothes while Danny chastises her and Brian is uncomfortable with the situation.

 

Scene 4

While coming home from a walk, Brian and Eloise come across Danny, Christina, Tyler, and Briella arguing on the sidewalk.  Danny and Christina are angry at Tyler’s late-night use of power tools, while Briella defends him.  During the course of the argument, Briella accuses Tyler of cheating on her with Eloise, and reveals that she visited her ex-boyfriend the night before.  Briella leaves, then a comment from Tyler leads to Christina discovering that Danny has been hiding a lottery win from her.  Finally, Christina reveals that Brian is in love with Eloise.  Danny and Christina and Tyler and Briella are left arguing while Brian and Eloise happily walk away.
