Format


A new type of dating service has opened up for those who are shy or have difficulty meeting a person of interest to them. Using black and white film there will be voice overs, flashbacks of their interpretation of the events that take place and return to the present time. Presentation style between documentary and one camera film styles.



Logline


The film follows Dimitri and Josh, two university students who are at the library working on their assignments. Josh casually mentions that he tried a new form of dating the other night. The Window.  He has been having no luck meeting and picking up girls. His life has been too hectic. He begins to describe the event with Dimitri who is intrigued, although he has no trouble with the ladies. Through flashbacks Josh tells his story. Dimitri the next night decides to try it.

Key characters and descriptions

Dimitri: a University student - good looking- self assured - has interesting discussions with his best friend Josh.


Josh: a University student - a bit shy and withdrawn - reserved  - Diitri pulls information out of him. 


A girl behind a window for Josh: A well put together girl who wishes to make a strong first impression on Josh.


Dimitri’s ex: - a vivacious young woman who matches Josh for her self assurance.


Voice in the window room: - over the speaker explains the rules again.


Maitre de: -  who accepts money and directs them to a room. 


Extras - bar scene


Act One

Dimitri is working on an assignment at a table in the library. Josh enters and discusses work and the assignments. They discuss dating life and Dimitri’s break up with his girlfriend. Josh lends support.


Josh raises the point about a new type of dating the local bar is offering for those who are shy or having trouble meeting prospective dates. Window Dating. They discuss it. And then…


Act 2 

Josh is at the bar where he learns about the rules for Window dating. It seems simple enough so he pays and is escorted to the room.  


Voice overs and returns to the present as Dimitri interrupts with questions.


Back to the bar: Jason tries out a new type of introductory dating, The Open Window. You pay your money at the bar and are escorted to a room. In the room are a window with a blind on it and a light shining on your face. You have 30 seconds to look at the face that appears in the window. If you like the face and the face likes you then you will both meet in the bar. If either of you don;t like the other face you will get 4 more chances to find a face you like. If one person likes and the other doesn’t it is a no. 


The window opens, they have 30 seconds to make a decision. Waiting for the light to say yes or no. Its says yes. They meet in the hallway and set up a date for the next night. Agree to meet at Chez Helene, a local restaurant. No further discussion is allowed.


Act 3 Dimitri decides to try it to see what is special about it. He goes through the process and is seated. The window opens. His ex is sitting there. Dimitri laughing gets up and leaves. She exits her door. They talk. They leave together.


Denouement A couple of days later. Josh’s new date shows up. Dimitri’s ex now current girlfriend shows up. They know each other. Josh groans. Fade out.
