Yvonne sat quietly at her drawing table. Her noise cancelling headphones were securely ensconced on her ears. She was observing her drawing pad carefully under the guiding light of a flashlight. The power had been out since just after dusk. She had been resisting the temptation to draw but felt that she was being drawn towards completing a new sketch whether she wanted to or not.
She felt a tap on her shoulder. She moved the headphones slightly. “Where did you put the drawing of the tiger?” a quiet voice with a drawl asked.
Yvonne paused for a minute. The voice was starting to ask questions which caused her some concern. “I think I took that one to the zoo.“
“How appropriate,” drawled the voice. “Wasn’t there a tiger captured at the zoo?”
Yvonne hesitated. She didn’t want to say too much. Giving out information caused problems. “I heard something about that.”
“And what about that gorgeous picture of the mansion you drew last night?”
“I put it over on an empty lot on 4th Avenue.”
“The radio said a new house had sprung up over there. No one knew how it got there. That was yours?” he inquired.
Yvonne nodded as she picked up her eraser and turned to a page she had drawn earlier in the day. It was a picture of a man in a cowboy hat. She erased his hands first.
“Hey,” called out the man with the drawl. “What are you doing?”
She next erased the mouth of the man. Quickly she looked up into the terrified eyes that stood before her. She erased the lips and then the rest of the body leaving only the eyes on the paper.
She looked at the eyes. “You are too nosy. Bye Bye,” she said quietly before erasing the eyes from existence.
Yvonne sighed. She loved to draw. What she thought, she drew. What she drew came to life. She was going to have to be more selective in her drawings. The last couple were far too dangerous for her liking.
She put her headphones back on and began drawing a Caribbean vacation spot..
Very interesting concept. If it would work, I would draw a picture of the evil world leaders and then erase them!!
