“What a wonderful night!” Connie sighed as they entered the door of their apartment. “The conversation was interesting. The music was right up my alley. We danced all night and there were no boring drunks to ruin the evening for us. A real win on our part.

“I am so glad that you enjoyed yourself,” Calvin said as he twirled her around the room to imaginary music. “You certainly look quite beautiful. You fit in so well that I was hearing nice things about you all night. It was such a fine ending to what could have been such a downer.”

Connie stopped and looked at Calvin. “Are you trying to say that I was a party pooper before we even left to go tonight?”

“You were worried about many things. Your hair, your clothes, your shoes, conversations.  I am so glad that it worked out fine.”

Connie stepped into his arms and whirled around the room once more. “I was such a worry wart. I wonder why I do that?”

“Hmmm,” Calvin said as he dipped her and began a kiss which was reciprocated with much gusto.

“Let’s worry about that tomorrow,” Connie mumbled as they kissed their way to the bedroom door.

  1. So, was she worried or fishing for compliments? "You look marvelous, Connie!" might have done the trick.

    1. Hi Janet. Thank you for commenting. Writers write it. Readers interpret it. However you see it is fine with me.
