The 15,000 Words in a Month Challenge - Week 2

Well, intrepid and inspired writers, hope you're all chugging along and enjoying the challenge. You should have around 7500 words now. We're halfway  through the challenge, more or less, with a couple of days to spare.

Perhaps, in the comments section of this post, you could share the subject of your writings. Or not.

As is my wont and to inspire you further... below is a picture of a woman dreaming of  receiving the coveted Roseneath Writers Circle Certificate of Accomplishment which, judging by the font on the certificate, apparently comes from China. Who knew?

  1. I am using this time to begin a sort of journal marking our transition from city to country life here in Roseneath. Lots to write about there.

    2. Adrian, I think it is a great topic! Farm papers pick up these types of stories as they are entertaining to a wide audience.

  2. I am at 7500 words. As I look forward, and back, I can see paths to 15000 words. Some additions, some subtractions and some new stuff to fill it out.

My work has a number of tentative titles. At the moment it is the Revenge of St. Joan. A Cardinal is making a mess of things in a Basilica named after her and she is not happy.

    1. I have never been great friends with my computer, but I like the fact that I can go back and add, subtract and change parts of the story. It is a lot about learning new things for me!

    2. As I add to my story in length, I am seeing all these things that need explaining or are needed to set up the story more. I am also making notes on my screen about other parts to think about for later or a rewrite. Today's writing pushed the story into a whole new territory which has given me much to think about both near the beginning and as I move towards where this piece of writing sits.

  3. I am making progress and enjoying this very much. Past 9000 words now because some days are very busy in January. The suggestion of a designated time each day has worked for me. I have wanted to write my mother’s story for a few years and although it wouldn’t be particularly interesting to a broad audience, it is important to me to have a record for further generations. My husband has appointed himself editor which is creating extra work for me!😂

  4. Good to see we're all committed to this challenge. I'm just shy of the target with much more to add. My story is based on a tragic and long forgotten event that occurred in Toronto in the 30s - something I stumbled upon a year ago and I've been researching since. So happy to finally be writing about it.
